Clocks to go forward 1 hour in Iran
Iranians will set their clocks forward by one hour midnight Tuesday local time (2030 GMT March 20, 2012). The official time in Iran will change once at the beginning of the Iranian calendar year and once again at the start of the second half of the year. The longer hours of daylight in the evening will run until September 21, 2012, when Iranians will turn back time clocks by an hour. Daylight savings time -- also known as summer time -- has the ultimate goal of reducing energy consumption. It involves adjusting the official local time forward during spring and summer months for a longer utilization of the sunlight.
Observation of local time is then adjusted to better reflect natural time -- the sun-- for winter
