IRI's Greco-Roman team crowns Asian champion

Iran's Greco-Roman team won the title of the Asian Wrestling Championship in South Korea for the eighth time on Friday. The Iranian team, which had snatched three gold medals, a silver as well as a bronze, earned the first title of the competition. In the 96kg class, Davoud Gil Nirang defeated his Chinese rival 6-0 to seize the gold medal. Also in the 120kg class, other Iranian wrestler Muhammad Qorbani defeated his Jordanian rival and won the bronze medal. The Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team wrapped up the championship with three gold, one silver and one bronze medal, securing 54 points.

China and the host South Korea with 51 and 47 points stood second and third steps respectively. The 2012 Asian Wrestling Championships were held at the in Gumi, South Korea. The event took place from February 16 to February 19, 2012
