Saudi forces arrest more protesters
Saudi Arabian security forces are said to have detained more anti-regime demonstrators in the kingdom’s Eastern Province amid the government’s ongoing crackdown on the country’s popular uprising. The forces reportedly patrolled the streets in the province’s city of Safwa on Thursday and abducted young men at random, activists said. Meanwhile, activists and protesters planned to march in the city on Friday to mark the first anniversary of their uprising. Also on Thursday, a group of Saudi women staged a sit-in protest in Safwa to draw international attention to their suffering. The protesters urged an end to, what they called, injustice and sectarian discrimination.
