Indian delegation in Tehran for more trade ties

An Indian trade delegation is in Tehran for exploring new opportunities for enhancing business between the two nations. An Indian official that heads the delegation termed Iran a long-standing friendly neighbor. Rashid Alvi, also spokesperson of the Indian National Congress told IRNA that Iran had made considerable progress in all sectors and is a promising option for India. He was of the view that Iran, not only is a supplier of 12 per cent of Indian oil requirement but also is the gateway to Afghanistan. Reciprocal flow of investments will enhance bilateral trade and the outcome will also boost the political relationship between the two friendly nations, he added.

"Rashid Alvi, also spokesperson of the Indian National Congress told IRNA that Iran had made considerable progress in all sectors and is a promising option for India"He underlined that the global financial crisis has shown that there was no choice but to strengthen regional cooperation to minimize the impact. “Holding discussions at regular intervals on bilateral economic and political cooperation will be beneficial not only to Iran and India but also for peace and security of the region and the world,” he noted
