In the latest move to restore their relations, senior economic officials of Iran and Egypt held a high-level meeting in the Egyptian capital. Iranian Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Ehsan Khandouzi and the Egyptian Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait discussed the expansion of economic ties between the two countries in Cairo.

The Iranian minister arrived in Cairo on Sunday at the head of a delegation to attend the 8th annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

In his meeting with Maait, Khandouzi pinpointed certain economic sectors for cooperation, signaling the prioritization of the economy over political affairs. He voiced readiness for developing banking cooperation with Egypt as well as transferring pharmaceutical technology and medical equipment to the most populous Arab country.

Cooperation in the field of customs and tariffs and support of banks to businessmen and investors were also among the subjects that were agreed upon by the ministers of the two countries.

The Iranian official also expressed willingness to cooperate with Egypt in establishing joint banks, and shipping companies.

Khandouzi also put forth the idea of forming a joint committee between the two ministries to follow up on the projects discussed, something that is indicative of the will of the two countries to press ahead with normalizing their relations.

In an online statement, China's Ministry of Commerce said that Beijing has noticed that the US decision to include some Chinese companies and individuals on its specially designated nationals list under the pretext of their alleged connections with Iran's unmanned aerial vehicles and military aircraft programs.

China firmly opposes such actions, said the ministry's spokesperson in the statement, China Military reported.

The official said that the US's unilateral sanctions and extraterritorial jurisdiction practices undermine the international trade order and rules while obstructing normal economic and trade exchanges among countries. These actions also harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and individuals.

The US should immediately cease its unjustifiable pressure on Chinese entities and individuals. China is determined to take necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, said the spokesperson.

“With a long history and splendid culture, Iran has many scenic spots worth visiting again and again. Iran attaches great importance to Chinese tourists and offers a visa-free policy for Chinese citizens. I hope that every Chinese tourist in Iran will have a good time,” Iranian ambassador to China Mohsen Bakhtiar said in a recent interview with China's People'a Daily.

As an important transportation hub on the ancient Silk Road, Iran sees the Belt and Road Initiative as an opportunity for its development, Mohsen Bakhtiar said.

The Belt and Road Initiative will help a large number of developing countries pursue common development, promote economic growth, and reduce poverty, he said, adding that this is an effort to achieve enduring peace through the establishment of mutually beneficial and win-win relationship.

According to Bakhtiar, Iran is looking forward to the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and is ready to play a greater role in the process of jointly building the Belt and Road and to translate the friendship between Iran and China into the results of practical cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.

At the recent China International Fair for Trade in Services, Iran launched an online national pavilion on a Chinese e-commerce giant, setting up a new platform for Iranian products to be linked directly with Chinese consumers. There are numerous comments from Chinese netizens on the social media account of the Iranian Embassy in Beijing, such as “I’ll buy some saffron”, “I’ll definitely go and buy it”, and “Show me more Iranian specialities.” Encouraged by all these comments, Bachtiar hopes to add more Iranian speciality products directly into the “shopping cart” of Chinese consumers.

Responding to Vladimir Putin’s telephone call on Tuesday, Ebrahim Raeisi commended the progress in the bilateral relations between the two countries as “favorable” and called for accelerating the implementation of joint agreements and projects in the fields of transit, transportation, energy exchange and the completion of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).

The 162-kilometer corridor along the Caspian Sea coast connects India, Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan and other countries via railways and sea and can rival the Suez Canal as a major global trade route.

Appreciating Russia’s support for Iran's membership in the BRICS group of emerging economies, Raeisi said, “BRICS is one of the effective and nascent organizations in shaping a multipolar world, and providing suitable grounds for the expansion of bilateral, regional and international relations between Iran, Russia and other member states.”

The group was formed by and initially consisted of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, which collectively represent around 40% of the global population and a quarter of the world’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Experts see BRICS as a viable counterweight to the G-7, a powerful US-led political forum that includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the UK.

Putin, for his part, told his Iranian counterpart during the phone call on Tuesday that the volume of trade between the two countries witnessed a record last year.

Describing Iran as a “strategic partner” of Russia, Putin expressed hope for the implementation of the Rasht-Astara railway, which is part of the INSTC, as soon as possible and connecting the railway lines of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia to each other.

The Russian leader pointed to the significant impact of the railway on the increase of trade exchanges between the three countries.

Before departing for South Africa, Ghalibaf said that he would be visiting Johannesburg at the invitation of his South African counterpart.

The BRICS PF is very influential at the regional and international level, he added.

This is a favorable parliamentary opportunity for the Islamic Republic of Iran to participate in this forum with the approach of multilateralism and regional and international relations, Ghalibaf stressed.

Iran was invited to join BRICS in August, along with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Ethiopia, Argentina, and Egypt.

Iran applied for full membership in the bloc in June 2022, days after Raeisi was invited to address the BRICS Plus summit.

BRICS is a geopolitical bloc with five member states – Russia, China, Brazil, India, and South Africa – which account for 42% of the world population.

The BRICS PF is a structure that brings together the leaders of the legislative organs of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS). The upcoming Assembly aims to deepen collaboration, partnership, and progress under the theme "Harnessing Multilateralism and Parliamentary Diplomacy to Deepen BRICS and Africa Partnership for Accelerated Implementation of the Africa Free-Trade Agreement."

"Iran entered the war while the superpowers of the East and the West, the European countries and the reactionary Arab regional countries, which were about 30 countries in total, were facing the 19-month Islamic revolution. We did not lose even one iota of our land and defeated their power. We imposed our demands on them and exceeded the level of regional power," the IRGC Aerospace Force commander said.

http://www.sarkhat.com/en/group/ykewxk/ Japan proposes initiative to revive Iran nuclear deal http://www.sarkhat.com/en/group/ykewxk/ Iran Mon, 25 Sep 2023 22:58:33 -0700 Japan proposes initiative to revive Iran nuclear deal

Amir-Abdollahian told Kyodo News on Sunday that any initiative from Japan that aligns with "Iran's interests" would be viewed positively by Tehran.

He stated, "We support the constructive role of Japan in reviving the nuclear deal."

The Iranian foreign minister did not detail the initiative. He said he received the proposal from the Japanese government when he visited Tokyo in August and met Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and then Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

Amir-Abdollahian said, however, that "excessive demands" by the United States, Britain, France and Germany regarding the nuclear deal have delayed the talk's progress.

The deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was inked in July 2015 between Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council -- the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France -- plus Germany.

It enabled limited sanction relief for the Islamic Republic, which, in turn, volunteered to change some aspects of its nuclear work.

The US, however, left the agreement in 2018 as part of former president Donald Trump's so-called "maximum pressure" policy against Iran, returning all the sanctions that the deal had lifted.

The US allies in the deal -- France, Britain, and Germany -- then bowed under Washington's pressure by toeing the sanction line and suspending their trade activities with Tehran.

Negotiations to revive the agreement started in April 2021. The talks have, however, stalled amid Washington's refusal to offer guarantees that it would not ditch the deal again.

The Iranian foreign minister also attributed the delay to what he described as "interference" by the countries in a domestic issue of Iran, particularly regarding protests over the death of Mahsa Amini who lost her life in police custody in the capital Tehran September last year.

In comments at a televised program on Sunday, Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tangsiri said the Persian Gulf countries are capable of ensuring regional security through mutual cooperation within the framework of an 8-nation alliance.

The naval alliance will help the regional people live in peace, he added, reminding the neighboring states that the outsiders provoke Iranophobia in order to justify their illegitimate presence in the region.

The commander warned that the foreign military forces are in the region with the purpose of selling arms and plundering the oil resources.

In June, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said a number of regional countries, including Iran and Saudi Arabia, will form a new naval coalition in the northern parts of the Indian Ocean.

He also confirmed that the UAE has withdrawn from a US-led naval coalition in the Persian Gulf, saying, “Today, the regional countries have realized that establishment of security in the region requires synergy and cooperation.”

Mohammad Eslami made the remarks in his address to the 66th Annual Regular Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference which kicked off in Vienna on Monday.

In his address, the AEOI chief said that the 30th national conference and the first international nuclear conference will be held in May 2024 in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

According to the Iranian nuclear chief, the quantitative and qualitative development of nuclear arsenals is worrisome, and the growing trend is contrary to the commitments accepted by the nuclear weapon states.

He expressed regret that five decades after the ratification of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Article 6 of the treaty is still not implemented.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, as the first country to offer a nuclear-weapon-free Middle East, expresses its concern about the secret nuclear military program the Israeli regime has, Eslami further asserted.

He went on to express regret that the Zionist Israeli regime has not placed its nuclear program under the IAEA monitoring, and for that, it is considered a threat to international peace and security.

He further considered the Tel Aviv regime as a threat to the integrity and credibility of the NPT and the IAEA.

The AEOI head went on to emphasize that the IAEA should report on Iran's verification activities while observing impartiality, professionalism, and realism, adding that "Iran expects the "outstanding issues" case to be declared closed as soon as possible in cooperation with the agency.

He noted that "the verification and monitoring activities related to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) are voluntary and are not related to the Comprehensive Safeguard Agreement (CSA) by any means, so its repeated relation and connection with alleged issues is completely baseless and unacceptable."

Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri made the remarks on Monday during a ceremony in Jamkaran Mosque near the holy city of Qom, where the Armed Forces renewed allegiance to the twelfth and last Shia Imam, Imam Mahdi (PBUH).

“The Iranian Armed Forces have set up a unified body to establish security in the country,” he said.

“State of readiness is a familiar concept for our Armed Personnel. That is, every moment we have our hands on the trigger and our eyes on the radar screen, along with surveillance and intelligence equipment so that no conspiracy is organized against the country and the enemies do not wish to launch an aggression and undermine our security.”

General Bagheri also noted that today the enemies do not dare invade Iran and even do not think about it due to the power of the Armed Forces.

He further emphasized that Iranian forces stand selflessly on all battlefields and fight hoping to be martyred.

“We pledge not to compromise with the enemies of Islam and stand against them, as well as continue the path of our martyrs, defend the disadvantaged and the oppressed, and move with all our might in the invaluable path of the 2nd Phase of the Islamic Revolution devised by Leader of the Islamic Revolution,” he added, referring to the national roadmap for the second forty years of the 1979 revolution drawn by Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Also speaking on Monday, Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force Brigadier General Kioumars Heidari warned the enemies that they will receive a “decisive response” if they commit a “foolish act” against Iran.

Addressing the 12th Conference of Ministers of Culture in the Islamic World in Doha, Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaili said that what the world needs currently is morality and spirituality.

Desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden and other parts of the globe has indicated that those who are opposed to Islamic unity resort to some measures to create a rift among Islamic nations, he asserted.

The Iranian minister called on the participating countries in the conference to take immediate steps to support the Palestinians in the face of the child-killing and blood-thirsty Zionist Israeli regime.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he suggested that a secretariat for cultural dialogue be set up under the umbrella of the secretariat of ISESCO, which is a specialized organization concerned with fields of education, science, culture, and communication in Islamic countries to bolster relations among 54 member states.

He voiced Iran’s readiness to host the first round of the cultural dialogue in that regard.

The 12th Conference of Ministers of Culture in the Islamic World is underway under the theme “Toward renewing cultural action in the Islamic world”.

The two-day conference will discuss the main principles of cultural policy and indicators of sustainable development, mechanisms for developing the "Cultural Capital of the Islamic World" program, and the expansion of joint cultural activities in combating the illegal trafficking of cultural heritage.
