Leader grants clemency, eases sentences of 761 prisoners

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei has granted clemency to or eased the sentences of some 761 prisoners. The Islamic Revolution Leader on Thursday agreed to a request by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani to pardon some prisoners on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the 33rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution. The 17th day of the lunar Islamic month of Rabi Al-Awwal marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The auspicious occasion this year coincides with the 33rd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
