Russia warns against foreign interference in Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned against any blatant interference in Syria's domestic affairs, affirming that the rules of the international law must not be violated. In a statement issued on Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that during his meeting with UN Secretary General's Special Envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, Lavrov reviewed Russia's stances on the situation in Syria represented in the immediate halt of violence and the long-term settlement of the crisis through a wide national dialogue. Lavrov underlined Russia's support to Annan's mission, wishing him success in implementing it according to the terms of authorization granted to him. For his art, Annan underlined determination to cooperate with Russia in an effective way to solve the crisis in Syria.
